Students at Brown Elementary raise $17,500 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! The Brown Pennies for Patients campaign raised the most money in central Ohio!

The students, staff, and community of Brown Elementary in the Hilliard City Schools are proud to announce that they have raised $17,500 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society this year!!!!! Brown is the #1 school in central Ohio out of 476 schools! We have set a new record for the amount of money raised in central Ohio!Over the last seven years, Brown Elementary has proudly participated in Pennies for Patients and has donated over $65,000 to LLS! It has been amazing to see the enthusiasm shown by the students at Brown to donate and help other children that are battling cancer.
 
Students at Brown Elementary did many wonderful things to raise money including helping around the house, setting up lemonade stands, making bracelets and posters, working in their yards, collecting cans, contacting businesses and neighbors, and juggling.Attia Soliman, fifth grader at Brown, raised the most money in on-line donations in central Ohio for LLS. He raised $4,000 by juggling at the Home and Garden Show, selling bookmarks and bracelets during lunch, and mailing letters to businesses, neighbors, and friends telling them about the importance of raising funds for LLS!Brown Elementary participated in many activities including spirit week, Domino’s Dough Raising Night, pancake breakfast, and $100 Club.At the end of our campaign, staff and students participated in a silly string assembly to celebrate the great work that Brown Elementary did for LLS!
 
“Over the last seven years, this has been an amazing experience for our students,” said Sarah Huffman, Student Council Advisor and Pennies for Patients campaign coordinator at Brown Elementary. “It has taught them that they can make an important difference in the lives of others. Our students’ are so enthusiastic and put forth so much effort knowing that their donations are benefiting other children fighting leukemia and lymphoma.”
